The Course Links tool allows you to link to other items within a Course. All items that appear in the Course Map may be linked to by using a Course Link. For example, you can use a Course Link to link from a weekly module to a corresponding week’s Discussion Board.

Set Edit Mode to ON to perform these functions.


Create a Course Link


  • From Build Content
  • Select Course Link
  • Course Link Information
    • Choose Item: Select Browse to locate and select the course area you want to link to
    • Enter a Name in the Name field
    • The Location field indicates the course area were you are linking to
    • Enter descriptive content/information in the Text field
  • Standard Options
    • Permit Users to View this Content: Choose Yes to make the item available to students. Choose No to make the item unavailable to students
    • Track Number of Views: Choose Yes to record the number of times the course link is viewed, when it is viewed and by whom
    • Select Date and Time Restrictions: Choose the Display After date/time and/or the Display Until date/time
  • Select Submit
  • A green confirmation bar appears: “Success: name of course link created.

Edit a Course Link


  • Select the Down arrow next to the Course Link title you want to edit
  • Select Edit
  • Course Link Information
    • To make changes to course link, select Browse to locate and select the course area you want to link to
    • Make changes to the Name, and/or Text fields
  • Standard Options
    • Make any changes to the Availability, Track Number of Views, Display After date/time, and/or Display Until date/time
  • Select Submit
  • A green confirmation bar appears: “Success: name of course link edited.

Delete a Course Link


  • Select the Down arrow next to the Course Link title you want to delete
  • Select Delete
  • A confirmation pop-up message appears, to continue deletion select OK, to end deletion select Cancel
  • A green confirmation bar appears: “Success: name of course link Deleted.
