The Date Management tool allows you to efficiently change course dates for items, folders, assignments, tests, etc.

  • From the Control Panel of a course
  • Select Course Tools
  • Select Date Management
  • Select Date Adjustment Option
    • Choose one of the following options and follow the prompts to adjust the dates:
      • Use Course Start Date – Use this option when adjusting for new terms.
Important Note:  If you want to use the Use Course Start Date option in the Date Management tool in Blackboard, be sure to do so before you export your course. If you try to do it after exporting, there will be no way to put the old start date in the dialog box, which will have been auto-filled through system programming and can’t be changed.

In addition, you should only run the Date Management tool after archiving your course, since running the tool will change your due-dates, display dates, etc., which would cause issues, for example, were a student subsequently to dispute a grade in that course that was based on having missed due-dates for assigned work.  In a case like this, you would want to have the original due-dates, display dates, etc., preserved for purposes of documentation, and the only way that you could do that would be by archiving your course before running the Date Management tool.
      • Adjust by Number of Days – Use this option when you know exactly how many days you want to adjust dates by.
      • List All Dates for Review – Use this when you want to review dates before adjusting them.
